From
its dependence on hunting and
agriculture, Nagaland has initiated
major reforms in law & order,
fiscal management, personnel policies
and institutional structure thereby
emerging as a prominent reforming
state in the North East Region.
Other initiatives include rightsizing
of State bureaucracy, widening
of tax base and rationalizing
of tax structure. Among institutional
reforms, communitization of elementary
education and rural health care
stand out.
